Aurelia – Miracle Cleanser – Honest Beauty

I’ve been planning to write a series of posts on Honest Beauty for a while now.  Taking my favourite skincare and make up products that are kind to nature, kind to skin and have had a particular impact on me.

First up is the rather spectacular Miracle Cleanser from Aurelia Probiotic Skincare.  I first wrote about this little gem back in October 2014, this little pot of loveliness was first given to me by the then new brand to try.  Since I’ve bought a glass tub (think old chemists and apocatherapy shops) for myself every Autumn, and introduced it to friends.

What has kept its space in my bathroom cabinet over the years is a mixture of very good ingredients, Bergamot, Eucalyptus, Chamomile, Rosemary, with equally amazing smells and added to that, a creamy texture which at this time of year works as a dual cleanser and moisturiser, a generally non abrasive nourishment for the skin.

At £42 its a luxury buy which will take you all through the colder seasons of the year, keeping your skin soft and smooth.

If you want the technical probiotic and bioOrganic reasons for buying check out my old post here or take a look on the website,

It’s also available from Urban Retreat Beautique

Autumn Skincare

This time of year as the seasons change from warmer to colder weather I tend to update my beauty regime and add a few extra steps.  I thought I’d post my current products which are slightly richer in texture and provide more hydration during the months when your skin is exposed to colder weather and nasty, drying central heating.

I tend to use more product at this time of year as my skin becomes a lot dryer. My entire skincare routine only happens on days when I work from home.  If I’m catching the train to London the AM process is a lot quicker although if I’m home in time I will spend more time in the evening moisturising.  I don’t want dry flaky skin so for me moisture is key.  Here’s where I start…

Early A.M.

My morning routine is split into Early A.M. and A.M. First thing I wash my face using Aurelia Miracle Cleanser which I’ve been raving about recently.  The natural goodness smells divine and sets you up with a good clean base.

I then reach for Essence 27 which is a bio-Vitalizing Cell Hydrating Fluid.  This is a thin liquid which is quickly absorbed into the skin. This is a good extra layer if your skin needs the moisture.

After a shower I squirt on Pevonia Botanica Ligne Nyphea which is a dry body oil that smells fab and gives a lovely glow to my body, its also super speedy and dries instantly so you can get dressed quickly.

I usually take breakfast to the studio and begin to read emails while applying the next part of my skincare routine, which means its not a rushed process and allows time for the moisturisers to go to work.

I apply a few drops of ESPA Optimal Skin ProSerum, this is a soft porous oil which contains a blend of natural plant extracts and vitamins.  Alternatively I’ve used DELAROM’s skin oil which again smells amazing also its natural and sinks into the skin beautifully.

Finally its on to moisturiser and eye cream, at the moment I’m using DELAROM’s Lifting Cream which is a hyaluronic cream that feels nice and rich for this time or year.  I top it all off with a slick of Pevonia’s Lift & Glow Eye Contour Cream.

When I’m working from our StudioShed I often don’t wear make up at all which allows my face the odd make up free day… (I know its scary but stay with me) this also allows me to pop on another layer of moisturiser during the day.  I’d say if youre at work mid day there’s really no harm in adding a thin layer of moisture during the day on top of your make up.

To cleanse in the evening I switch between a DELAROM cleanser and toner and the Aurelia wash or a new exfoliator from Gazelli called Tripple Youth Illuminating Perfecting Skin Polish.

Finally before bed its CAUDALIE Vinosource, overnight Recovery Oil. Which repairs skin deep down overnight. DONE!

This Autumnal beauty regime may not be for everyone, certainly if you are time short you may not want to go through every stage.  Remember the weather can play a major part in how your skin looks and feels,  if you want softer, moisturised, nourished skin then try my routine using a combination of all or just some of the products mentioned here.  Most are available from Urban Retreat Beautique or QVCUK.

Aurelia Probiotic Skincare 5

Every once in a while a skincare product comes around that makes you take note.  Not because of the hype or the promotion but because you try it for yourself and you really notice the difference.

I was asked to try Aurelia  Miracle Cleanser quite some time ago, I loved the smell, all eucalyptus, chamomile, rosemary and bergamot. I didn’t try it right away, I’m not sure why, I think I knew it was going to be pretty good and wanted to wait for the right time. I popped it on the bathroom shelf and played around in the sun.

I dug out the miracle in a pot earlier this month, my skin looked a little dry and sun damaged after our lovely long summer and I wanted to pay attention to my skin before the winter set in and the loathsome central heating began to dry my skin out.  I don’t usually like things that tell me they are miracle cures…. though I will say this, What I’ve found is a skincare product that hydrates and plumps, my face looks healthier and I think smoother, dare I say perhaps less wrinkles?  Well there, I’ve said it.

Aurelia Probiotic Miracle Cleanser 2Now the techy stuff, the Miracle Cleanser fuses probiotic and peptide technologies with bio-organic plant and flower essences to hydrate and soothe dull and dehydrated skin giving a luminous, dewy, radiant glow whilst helping to prevent skin ageing.  I don’t profess to know what all of that means I don’t know if its helped to stop the aging process….yet.  Suffice to say I can vouch for its hydration properties and that plumped skin feeling you experience after a really good facial.

The cleanser comes in quite minimal clinical almost packaging which I also like, with a  soft antibacterial bamboo muslin cloth.  Of course you use this to wipe away the cream cleanser however the cloth also buffs away dead skin cells and make-up and helps to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. This speeds skin cell turnover, resulting in a brighter complexion with fresher, younger skin cells ready for hydration on the surface.

So there you go I cant promise miracles, though Aurelia has made a significant difference for me.

Its available from Urban Retreat Beautique now.

Natural Beauty at Urban Retreat Boutique

I’ve been pretty lucky with my skin when I consider the dreadful things I’ve put it through over the years.  I didn’t have acne or problem skin as a teenager and thought the whole skincare routine (cleanse, tone, moisturise) was a little boring.

I used water and a muslin cloth for most of my 20’s and 30’s which probably worked just fine at that age.  However, combine late nights, sometimes not taking my make-up off at all (I know!) and age, of course and its a skin which is now in need of good treatments and nourishing products.

Help is here and luckily for me it doesn’t consist of drastic routines and chemicals. Introducing luxury beauty site, The Urban Retreat Boutique.

April is Natural Beauty month at Urban Retreat which means a means a focus on the best natural skincare available from around the globe.  They invited me to test some leading natural products, so here’s my top natural products for you to try.

1/ DELAROM – Hydrating Balancing Aroma

The best smelling facial oil I’ve ever tested! This Neroli flower face oil from French brand DELAROM absorbs beautifully into the skin like velvet, smells divine and makes your skin look like you have had a facial.  I cant stop using it!

2/ Leonor Greyl – Shampooing Sublime Meches

Those clever Parisians are at it again! This natural hair care range has been developed over 40 years using only natural, pure products.  The shampoo for highlighted hair restores colour and shine, it smells beautiful and you feel like you’ve given your hair a holiday.

3/ Douvall’s Argan Bronzing Oil

Argan Oil with a golden brown shimmer, apply it to your body for a spring glow. Its also a nourishing moisturiser.

This miracle in a pot infuses probiotic and peptide technologies.  I wont pretend that I know what that means, I can tell you that it feels amazing on the skin and uses chamomile, eucalyptus, rosemary and bergamot. Sensational!

5/TAN ORGANIC – Self Tanning Oil

This product is an all rounder, unlike any other self tans I’ve used it smells good, its organic and it moisturises.  What’s not to like!

Also worth a mention, check out Antonia Burrell moisturiser, rahua rainforest grown shampoo and conditioner and Cosmetic 27 balm & oil.

Hope you like them as much as I do,

DSB (Looking at least 10 years younger!) X
